LONG BEACH, Calif. U.S.A. – The Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) is pleased to report that the organization has become a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE),http://www.credentialingexcellence.org/p/us/in/
, the leading Credentialing organization and the parent company of the NCCA, which is the leading authority for accreditation of providers of workplace education like SCAA.
SCAA’s Director of Professional Development, Ellie Hudson-Matuszak, will be representing SCAA at the annual ICE Conference in Palm Springs in November. Ms. Hudson-Matuszak stated, “As SCAA moves closer to compliance with ICE/NCCA accreditation standards, we are continuously striving to improve the experience of our members participating in SCAA professional development programs.
The ultimate aim is that our programs really and truly impact individuals’ position in the workplace, such as an opportunity to get a job, to get promoted, to be well compensated, or to find a competent new employee. The resources of ICE will be instrumental in keeping us on this path as we move closer and closer to achieving this goal for our industry.”
SCAA professional development programs are based on industry-recognized standards taught by carefully vetted, experienced instructors. Many courses count toward professional certification and/or credentials, which provide international recognition along with personal accomplishment.
These programs serve a wide range of coffee professionals; with training courses primarily focused on coffee processing; roasting; grading and evaluation; and beverage preparation, and lectures on a variety of topics in coffee business, sustainability, and global issues in coffee.
Training opportunities generally take place at the SCAA’s annual Exposition (“The Event”). And at regional events such as Roasters Guild Retreat and Barista Guild of America Camp.
